Opinions are like...

So I started this blog and thought to myself, now what?  I sat down and began brainstorming ideas about what I was going to write about.  While doing that I remembered how opinionated I am, which led me to this post.

My dad always says, "Opinions are like assholes, everyone has one and most of them smell bad."  I could have put that more delicately but to do so really wouldn't do the man justice.  Plus I have that warning before you enter my blog for a reason. ;)

Now I could go out of my way to try to write about things without including my personal opinions.  Some would say I should.  But this is my blog so I am going to write what I think.

PLEASE FEEL FREE TO GIVE ME YOUR OPPOSING POINTS OF VIEW!!!

My whole purpose of starting this blog is to interact with others who share my love of romance novels.  For that reason I will likely express my opinions a lot.  My hope is that you feel compelled to respond whether you agree or not.  I'm not doing this just to stand on my soap box and force my thoughts and ideals on others.

One of my favorite things about romance novels is that there is something for everyone.

Do you like a little action/adventure with your romance? We got that.  Do you want some mystery/suspense while your characters fall in love? We've got that too.  Paranormal, historical, lighthearted and funny, emotional/tear jerking, steamy and sexy? Done, done, done, and done.

We are bound to have opposing views, please never feel put off by my opinions. And please, always give me yours.

REVIEW: Bound By Her Scent by Kara Swynn

Confession time: I had to Google BBW because I had no idea what it meant (Big Beautiful Woman in case you didn't know)

Initially I was skeptical about whether I would like this novella.  Traditionally I like paranormal romance and I like erotic romance but have never read the two together.

I AM SO GLAD I DID!

Bound by Her Scent is HOT HOT HOT!!!

Both Ally and Ryker are very likable characters.  I would love to see them in a  full length novel.   I wanted the story to go on and on just so I could spend more time getting to know them. 

This was a very well written short steamy story.  The author, Kara Swynn, has done an amazing job of delivering the premise in such a way that I buy into it.  She's put thought into each detail and delivered it in such a way that it feels natural, never contrived, rushed or skimming over details in effort to get to the sexy parts.  It's impressive for such a short story.

My Favorite Romances

As my introductory post I thought I would share with you a list of my favorite romances.

Here they are (in no specific order):

1. Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen- Mr. Darcy = SWOON!!! By far my favorite Austen novel.  I also love the Kiera Knightly movie version, I've watched it probably 30 times :D

2. Twelfth Night by William Shakespeare- Though labeled a comedy it's the love story that gets me.

3. Outlander by Diana Gabaldon-  I think this is required reading for anyone who likes historical romances, specifically of the Scottish/Highland persuasion. I made it all the way through the fourth book but then gave up... it's sooo long, but really good.  Also, if you liked that (or don't want to commit to the 600 page tomb and six subsequent books in the series) try The Highlander's Touch by Karen Marie Moning.  It's similar in that the premise is a modern woman who time travels to the 14th century and falls in love with a Scottish warrior.  It's the third in a series.  I haven't read the others but I really liked that one.

4. 50 Shades of Grey by E.L. James- What's not to love? I've read it three times... I love me some Christian Grey :x

5. Book 1 & 2 of the In Death series by J.D. Robb- Normally I'm not a big fan of Nora Roberts or murder mysteries or futuristic Sci-Fi's but I do like this series.  I've only read the first two so I have no idea where it goes but I have it on good authority that the others are just as good.  Of course, the fact that she's still writing them and they continue to be best sellers is a good sign.

6. Twilight by Stephanie Meyer- I know, I know, but I love them.

7. The Undomesticated Goddess by Sophie Kinsella- I think of books like this as candy.  It's a fun, light, easy read.

8. The Notebook by Nicholas Sparks- Sometimes a girl just needs a good cry.  I love Nicholas Sparks for this.

9. Leave it to Cleavage by Miranda Wax- Another light, easy read that I enjoyed immensely.

10. Revenge Wears Rubies (Jaded Gentleman #1) by Renee Bernard-  Who says the Victorian Era can't be sexy?  This book is STEAMY.  It's also apart of a series that I haven't finished reading.

As I write this I am realizing what a short attention span I have.  I'm like the dog in UP... SQUIRREL!!!

Anyways...

Bonus: Anything written by Maya Banks.  I've read the entire Sweet series, the McCabe Trilogy and The Montgomery's & Armstrong's. My hope is to read everything she's ever written.
